An art mural gathering traditional artistic crafts under one roof, on a single canvas, sharing their depth, authenticity, differences, and vibrant life spirit. Displaying within the domestic terminal at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh. The mural narrates the heritage of traditional arts from 21 participating countries worldwide, emphasizing their importance in the life of their respective societies.
These countries participate in the expanded meeting of the 45th session of the World Heritage Committee, a subsidiary of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). The committee is responsible for implementing the 1972 Convention concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage, emphasizing the importance of preserving and safeguarding cultural and natural heritage. This ensures that they remain in their original forms, transferred as preserved legacies for future generations.
The Royal Institute of Traditional Arts enhances its local contributions within the mural with elements of Al Sadu, Hasawi Bisht, and the Taif Rose. Through this mural, travelers from around the world within the airport's terminal discover the aesthetic beauty of local traditional art. It becomes a gateway for airport visitors to explore the arts and cultures of the Kingdom. The presence of Saudi traditional arts in this mural symbolizes heritage preservation and emphasizes the necessity of highlighting the cultural legacy. It represents the continuation of these crafts that living human treasures worked tirelessly to keep alive and preserved. This effort is fully supported and directed by authorized entities, with the Royal Institute of Traditional Arts playing a crucial role in this responsibility.
