The Roshan Project

The new elevation proposal for Beit Al Mal, imagining the finished rushan and windows once installed in the building. The quality and modulation of light entering a building is very important. The mangour screens are designed to create a rich and peaceful atmosphere in the rooms while maintaining privacy. The low grade 'shish' protective screens from the old rushans is removed, and privacy is provided by a new set of mangour screens instead. This allows to showcase the extraordinary beauty of mangour pattern making. This key design choice honours tradition in its decorative language and functionality, and opens the door for creative and functional innovation.
